The artist that bends metal
George Bardakas is a metal sculptor. He was born in Meliti in 1985 and grew up in Florina. He is a graduate of the University of Western Macedonia, Department of Fine and Applied Arts. Since 2017, he has been working and creating in Thessaloniki. His works have been presented in group exhibitions and one solo exhibition, and they are also housed in private and public collections. His famous sculpture "Contralto" adorns the Alexander the Great Square at the entrance of Florina.

Metal can be transformed into anything
"A rusty pair of pliers can become the legs of a ballerina, and a useless bearing can become a dazzling sunflower," he often says, explaining how metal may be one of the hardest materials in the world, yet we decorate and mold it. "And as incredible as it may seem to us, we - as humans - are stronger than it."
